Fondo Naturaleza Chile is grateful for the invitation from the Koro Nui o te Vaikava Sea Council of Rapa Nui to visit the island and the territory it co-manages, with the aim of learning about the vast expanse of the "Koro Nui o te Vaikava" Multiple Use Marine Protected Area and the rich marine and terrestrial biodiversity it safeguards.

During the visit, Eugenio Rengifo, executive director of Fondo Naturaleza Chile, held several meetings with the Board of Directors of the Marine Protected Area; with the mayor of Rapa Nui, Elizabeth Arévalo; as well as participating in a session of proposals for financial mechanisms organized by Blue Nature Alliance and McKinsey, among other instances.

The objective of the visit was to explore and arrange future collaborations and joint work through a strategic alliance between Fondo Naturaleza de Chile and the Koro Nui o te Vaikava Sea Council of Rapa Nui to enhance the sustainable protection of natural and cultural heritage.

In the short term, this means financial support from Fondo Naturaleza Chile for holding the Sea Council Assembly in April 2026 within the framework of the resource transfer agreement of the Ministry of Environment.

This visit to Rapa Nui was made together with representatives from Blue Nature Alliance, Blue Marine Foundation and Island Conservation.
