Chile Nature Fund and SBAP sign alliance for Chile's biodiversity

Conservation requires institutions that work in a complementary way. This is the case in many countries, where public biodiversity services and environmental funds combine their capabilities to transform conservation challenges into concrete projects, partnerships, and resources.

Within this framework, and in a milestone that brings together the public and private sectors for the protection of Chile's Natural Capital, the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Service (SBAP) and Fondo Naturaleza Chile formalized in Valdivia the signing of a strategic collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening the conservation and restoration of biodiversity.

With the signing of this agreement, SBAP and Fondo Naturaleza Chile strengthen that long-term vision for Chile: while SBAP leads the protection of biodiversity and defines the country's priorities, Fondo Naturaleza Chile contributes by articulating actors, mobilizing financing and generating alliances to make those priorities possible.

In the words of SBAP's national director, Tomás Saratscheff, regarding the joint work between both institutions: "Fondo Naturaleza Chile is a key instrument in the identification and mobilization of financing opportunities to strengthen the conservation and restoration of biodiversity."

"SBAP and Fondo Naturaleza Chile were conceived to complement each other. This agreement strengthens the country's capacity to address conservation priorities, forging alliances and mobilizing the necessary resources to protect nature with a long-term perspective," said Eugenio Rengifo, Executive Director of Fondo Naturaleza Chile.

When the State, civil society, philanthropy and the private sector work together, the protection and restoration of Chile's Natural Capital is strengthened.
