Regarding the Conference of the Parties COP 17 CBD

COP 17 CBD is being held from October 30th in Armenia's capital and seeks to take stock of the progress of commitments and how to accelerate actions for the next four years within the global biodiversity framework, with financing being one of the central themes of the discussions at this conference.

What is the global biodiversity framework?

The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework is a roadmap for preventing degradation and restoring nature. Agreed upon in 2022, it addresses the main drivers of biodiversity loss, including changes in land and sea use, unsustainable exploitation of species, climate change, pollution, and invasive species.

Its best-known ambition is the 30 x 30 target to conserve 30% of land and sea by 2030. But the framework goes much further, and includes biodiversity funding, reforming harmful incentives, promoting more sustainable production and consumption, and considering the impacts of and dependence of businesses on nature.
